Called in a coyote

Well the wife and kids had to do some reunion thing today and the wife gave me the day off so I went out to do some man stuff.

I set up my game cam, and then went to check on a ladder stand in a coyote rich area. I gave a wounded rabbit call and not 30 seconds later out pops a coyote in the long grass at 35 yards.

One shot with the .204 and a little dance and it was all over. This is the first coyote I have ever called in.

Well not my first coyote, but the first one to come into a call. I've shot plenty just walking around and a few while turkey hunting.

Way to go on that yote Dave. Wack em' & stack em'! Was it a young coyote? The young ones are usually easy to fool at this time of the year.

Ya - quite young I would say, the smallest I've ever shot anyways. I would bet she was less than 20 lbs.

It's just nice to know that the call (caller? ) actually works. It's definitely going to give me greater confidence for next time.

Nice work. Want more you should start to bait them. Leave old moose or deer bones in the back forty of a farmers field. Just wire the bones together so they can't drag them off. This works good in the winter time . Buy some snoeshoes to get into the back of the property.
