Hi Guys,
I THINK I picked up a nice piece....its a 1.7 million Rockola with both barrel and receiver marked as such....it does have the Korean era Modification of the bayonet lug mount.....My Daughter really wants to shoot the darn thing but being restricted would make that a bit of a pain....its in good+-vg condition.....any idea of the "collectors" value....or should I just shoot the heck out of it.....

Same here.

wannabe, my view is SHOOT 'ER! If you want to collect and not shoot, feel free, but otherwise, shoot it and have fun.

You really need to open her up and see what's all inside for parts. Yours, like millions more, have gone through a rebuild (hence the bayo lug) and adjustable rear sight. Chances are you will have a mixed bag of parts inside, but sometimes you can get lucky with them, for example, one of my IBM's has an Irwin Pedersen trigger housing and that part in and of itself it almost worth as much as one Carbine (at least a bunch of years ago it was)

Plus its always nice to see what's all there. Some other bonuses to Carbines are well marked and cartouched stocks, if its original it may have the RMC stamp in square along with a small ordnance wheel on the butt. The sling well should have a stamp in it as well that will tell who made it or what company its from.

Rock-Ola started producing M1 Carbines in November 1942 & stopped production May 31 1944 . Of the 60 odd components of a M1 Carbine IBM & Quality Hardware made all but two for their carbines. Saginaw Steering made 24 parts,Underwood 19, Winchester 18, Rock-Ola 13,Inland, National Postal Meter, and Standard Products 4 each. The remainder of the components were produced by a great many subcontractors
