I have a set of medals that I picked up many years ago. Looking to identify them and more importantly, 2 of them have names on the edge of the medal and looking to see if anyone has any info on the original recipients. Also looking for pricing as my collection has changed focus.

The far left one has the following:

3857 PTE T BISHOP DORSET REGT

The far right one has the following:

108188 DVR. W.J. ROLLS. R.A.

Thanks in advance!

#1 - Possibly a DCM or MM - what does it say on the back? Incorrect ribbon, this is for the 1939-1945 War Medal
#2 - A campaign star from WWII, what does the scroll say on the front? Incorrect ribbon, this is for the British War Medal
#3 - The WWII Defence medal, again the incorrect ribbon
#4 - A WWI Victory Medal with, again, the incorrect ribbon. This is for the WWII France and Germany Star.

Use your google-fu and look for dealers in Canada for medals to get current values. The two named ones are to British regiments and as such will likely have a lower value than Canadian ones.

Also bear in mind that the WWI medals are incomplete sets and it will lower their value vice the complete set. A DCM or MM will still likely be relatively valuable even as a single medal.

Okay, the first one appears to be a George V Long Service and Good Conduct medal - a little less valuable that a DCM or MM :)

And you answered #2 yourself.

By the way, if the Defence Medal is Canadian it will be made from silver, and if British it is cupro-nickle.
