I was stripping my XCR lower last night and managed to destroy the convoluted little spring with the hook on the end that goes through the hammer axis pin (don't ask). Anyways, can anybody tell me if this spring serves any purpose other than retaining the pin? If it doesn't then I'm thinking a tiny hitch pin or cotter pin will serve the same purpose. Hoping that someone can shed some light on this for me.
 
Figured it out - thanks. Turns out it actually is just a small hitch pin. It came out broken so initially I had thought it started out life as some sort of a secondary torsion spring.
