So what type of tactics do you guys and gals use to call in deer?

I tend to stick to my grunts more than anything, I only ever throw a doe bleat or estrus bleat in to the mix when ive seen bucks on the move chasing a hot doe..

I usually space my grunts out with pauses of 20-30 minutes between them. I grunt toward the area i think the deer will be coming from. I stick with single grunts, dont want to over do it.

I've toyed with rattling as well with varied success. I rattled at a couple bucks the other day, they looked for a few minutes but never made thier way over. They were fighting with each other at the time, too busy to bother with me....

What does everyone else do? What's successful?

I have had good success with the ''whore in a can" type call. The only time I grunt is to stop a deer to take a shot.I don't rattle anymore, had more success with a couple calls from the 'can' a 1/2 hour after getting to the stand then staying silent.I also don't bother with the commercial type cover scents to me they smell like those little pine trees you hang off your mirrior .

i never really know what to do. I have only ever rattled in 3 bucks, one spiker and 2 tiny 6 points. I bought one of those buck growls to try this year, but im not too excited about it. All of my big bucks (just 3) have just been chance sightings. Curious to hear how you guys call.
