Just like last year... No luck on the moose draw, so I'm trying to get a surplus tag.
I've been calling the MNR hotline for an hour now.
beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beeeeeeep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beeeeeeep......... (you get the idea)
Anybody getting through?

16C was a war zone a couple of years ago. The MNR pushed out all those surplus tags. For them, it's very easy to patrol the one and only main road by Armstrong... Desperate hunters were everywhere. :(
I hope that things have changed and you guys will have a much better experience up there. Congrats for the tag.

War zone? I guess there are a lot of guys going there? I don't plan on breaking any laws so we should be good. Any nice bears up that way?

Its a war zone, because of the early opening, and the limited road access. There are lots of roads that you can't drive on. PM me for more info if you want.

Everyone tries to get there during the rut. If you went on the 2nd or 3rd week of October, you'd likely have the place to yourself, after the armchair snipers have all gone home.;)

wood800,

Make sure that you have all your supplies to avoid shopping in Armstrong.
I understand that this is prime time for local business owners but - just to give you an idea... - a cup of coffee (made of who knows what :puke:) was $2.50.
The price of regular gas was $1.49.
Oh, fine for not wearing a helmet on an ATV while riding on a trail 16 km-s deep in the bush (not me, guys at the camp "next door") $135.00.

Do you need helmet in a argo? Probably! Lol! So there are too many people, not enough moose? Bears count low too? Thanks

We saw a few decent size bear and wolf paw prints but it's best to talk to the guy (I forgot his name...) at the bear hunting camp. He'll give you good tips. You can't miss the camp because it's right on Airport Road on the left side approx. 40-50 km-s East off Armstrong.
There are a bunch of side roads leading to fly in camps that are off limit, so make sure you're not trespassing. The MNR is out there and the ticket business is booming...
