As I sit here freezing my nuts off in a tree stand (-14 or so) and giving the odd call through my HS Calls True Talker I am wondering if I am wasting my time?

Is calling better left for Whitetail Deer?

Since it is 4pt Muley season only here (that's 10pt's for you easterners who count both sides plus brow tines) should I be putting my efforts elsewhere?

believe it or not, i've used a CROW CALL to call mulies- might be the way i blow it, but in the off season i've had as many as a half dozen bucks and a few does show up all very concerned- maybe it sounds like a fawn bleat, i don't know- that was just outside waterton park, and you could see them coming hell bent for miles

I tried a deer stopper once on mule deer. Their supposed to stop in their tracks when they hear the call. You know how a mulie has that nice hopping bound? It turns into an all out run with their asses on fire when they hear that call and they don't stop to look back.

I've rattled in mulie bucks hunting WT and had them come running in to a fawn bleat during the rut.........never say never...........Harold

I was calling coyotes once and I called in a coyote and a deer at the same time. The deer got huffy with the yote and drove him off. Then kept coming to the call. Maybe the deer thought it was a fawn?

I have never used any kind of call , mouthblown or otherwise, but up in th high country if you know that there are mulies in the vacinity, grab a stout stick and start swishing it through small fir and pine tree branches . You don't want to be bashing it like a buck going to war though, but kind of purposefully making the branches sound like something is swishing its antlers through them. It might take a little bit to get the hang of it, but when you do, you will be shocked at how many deer come to see what the heck is going on! !
