Hi guys,

I'm looking to make a stock with the same ergonomics as the TR. If one of you have a little spare time to take some measurements, I would need the dimensions from front bottom of the grip to buttplate, height from lowest to highest point and thickness (middle of the back portion, don't need the grip as I will adjust it to my liking).

That'd be much appreciated!

Don't know if this will help, but it sounds like the stock you are looking for is the Boyds Tacticool. These might be the same measurements for other applications (ie 10/22, 597, CZ455) as well as the TR.

I have a traced copy of a TR 17 I was going to use for a pattern to make a stock. If you send me a PM with your address I will trace you a copy on paper and mail it to you. This will be an exact copy from a rifle.
Scott...

Yeah, I know the Boyds Tacticool is pretty much the same thing. Tho it can't be imported in Canada and it is not made for my particular rifle anyways...

I checked to find measurements and with not much surprise, they don't have them stated anywhere.

Just picked up a NS522, the stock stock isn't bad but since i'm already gonna do some work on it (like said, not bad, but definitely not great either...) I might just go all out and really give it the look and feel I really want.

Thx, it is a really interesting article, lots of great infos!

Interesting. I was thinking of doing the same thing but butchering the existing stock that came withy fv-sr. I was going to find a creative solution by cutting and adding material to make it to that ergo shape. It's either recycling the stock or buying one. I don't gain skills just by buying.

That's the spirit, plus its much more rewarding and become more personnal.

Just crossing my fingers I don't mess up as there are no replacements for the NS522 that I know off.

Nice, I saw that picture before but didn't know there is a step by step making process posted.

This is most likely closer to how I intend to do it. I trust glued wood more than bondo. Even tho a .22LR doesn't shake much with the minimal recoil, I fear that bondo could crack if knocked up.

I just bought an NS 522 as well. Was planning on doing the same thing and that's why I traced the TR stock in the first place. I want to order the Pepper stock blank from Boyds and build from scratch.

You can buy my 10TR stock. I upgraded to the XLR chassis, so my original stock is new condition, still has the stickers on it and comes with the magazine and receiver screws.

Indeed Kane!

Thx for the offer Joe, but I'm building a custom stock for my NS522, I'm sure a lot of people might be tempted to jump on your offer tho!

Great indestructables link. I have a No.4 conversion which an extremely skilled woodworker slabbed to change the foreend and butt whole profiles. Practically the only place you can see the original stock is just infront of the butt socket.

No problem, I'm going to list it on the EE soon anyway.
But if you need some dimensions from the OEM stock, send me a PM.
Sounds like a cool project!

Thx Joe.

I really appreciate all the help guys, will try and get all this documented so those interested can follow up once really started.
