Camera Land is now a Burris Dealer

After getting feedback from many forum members we have decided to begin to carry Burris gear. Being that we are new to Burris we are entering the waters slowly with a few products that have been suggested to us and we will expand our inventory as we learn more. Please feel free to look over our Burris page and make suggestions of products that you feel we should add.

I have read your concerns over the level of customer service over at Burris and addressed these concerns with them. Some people that I have been working with for years from Steiner are now over at Burris and assure me that the level of service that we demand from our suppliers will be met. As with any product we carry we will stand behind it and make sure you are happy with any product you get from us.

We look forward to assisting you with Burris products as well as getting your input on products you'd like to see. Thanks in advance for your assistance and as always for all the support we receive.

why do you have to tease with your good prices we can't take advantage of? Do you have stores in Canada?
The Optic Zone in the states will do the paper work required to export scopes including Burris to individuals in Canada..

It's very simple. Up until a few years ago Cabela's also did as you claim Optics Zone does. Some shipments had the paperwork done incorrectly. They were fined $684,000.00. A few other retailers I know of were fined between $50,000.00 to $150,000.00 for similar errors.
It is a shame that the US Dept of Commerse does not want us to ship riflescopes to Canada, however, if the fines are this stern they really do not want it done.
We cannot afford any such fine as it could put us out of business.
We have worked with many members here in regard to Photographic gear as well as Spotting Scopes and Binoculars. It is our pleasure to do all that we can to give you the best service and price that we can, however, we cannot risk losing our business exporting riflescopes, which seems to be the feeling of most of the quality sports optics retailers as most do not export riflescopes to Canada.
I am sorry that nrut feels we are letting you down and we "refuse" (as if it our choice) to send riflescopes. We are thrilled to work with the members here and would love to continue to do so.
Accept my apologizes for the narrow minded views of those who put that regulation into place.

Now I understand your position Doug..
BTW Midway was also fined big time, as up until the about 2002-2003 I imported quite a bit of reloading supplies from them.. When they would no longer ship to Canada I called them and it was explained to me, as you say the US Dept of Commerce made the export requirement/law and didn't bother to tell U.S. vendors that they did so..
I asked if all this was because of 9/11 and the fellow I was talking to said "no they made the require/law before 9/11"..

That is not the case in my point of view..
Bureaucracies feel the need to expand to justify their self importance and and increase their job security.. As a result, over time they usually become a impediment to the society that they are suppose to serve and in many cases come to think of themselves as superior to that society they are suppose to serve.. As they "bloat" they do absolutely nothing to contribute to the GDP and in fact detract from it..
Bureaucracies however do give jobs to___________________ you fill in the blank..

We have the same problem up here in spades!

Rant over........:)

It is unfortunate that Doug doesn't ship rifle scopes here, just teases us with his deals, but given the circumstances, can anyone blame him? You know that the government tax-collectors would look for any excuse to tag him (and others) with a massive fine. Semi-colon instead of a colon...sorry Doug, shipment seized, big fine levied, bye-bye Cameraland. I'd rather suffer at seeing deals that I can't have than not get anything at all from Doug and his crew. I've bought a few things from him in the last and friends have bought things on my recommendation and every deal has been great. I'll just buy my scopes from one of the many Canadian guys running small shops. Spread the good-fortune around a bit.
