smell, sound and movement are the things that get you busted in the bush.
I wear camo, moslty because the types of clothing i'm after generally come in camo and I am a bit of a believer in breaking up your profile and not wearing solid colors. Just a personal preference.
Smell is a big one although I was a smoker for years and still shot just as many deer from my hide. I use the scent cover sprays from the knees down and apply it to my boots. I often wondered if it was making a difference and last year I found out that it certainly was. Watching deer stop cold when they arrived at the area I had walked through that morning to get to my stand. They froze and instantly started smelling the ground right where i had walked 3 hours earlier in the dark. I forgot my scent killer spray at home that trip. Over the 20 sum years hunting that spot, and using the sprays on my boots I'd never seen a deer stop at my trail. The one time i forgot it.....
But clothing, no velcro on any of my gear and before i buy any piece of clothing I will brush it with something and if it makes any noise at all, it goes back on the rack. I always cover my hands and face as well as they are highly visible to anything that looks your way. Most of my deer hunting is ambush style or spot and stalk so the little things and any edge you can give yourself are important in my books.
I've taken lots of animals wearing no hunting clothing , just normal stuff but most of those were spotted from the vehicle driving local roads to an from hunting spots. Some hunts my hunting clothes come off as soon as I get to camp, boots too. I have a large zipper bag I stuff it all into along with some small branches of local vegetation. I feel it's an extra edge on those hunts and seems to pay off year over year.
