tnx

I know you eastern folks have a bit of an accent but what the hell is flim dip?

I believe it's called hydrofilm...it's a process where the type of camo pattern you want to put on anything, is transferred from "sheet" material to water,it sits on top of the water and then whatever you are are coating is submersed into the camo pattern and water...you can do darn near every pice on a firearm as this process gets into every little nook and cranny it can...supposed to be very durable as well...I'm not sure if it uses electricity, but if it does, you could describe it almost as a chrome plating process would be done...or similar idea anyway

Ever think of getting it powdercoated? It might just be one colour, but you could get a nice OD base coat and paint a camo pattern onto it. Best of all it's tough as all get out.

Incidently I have just recieved my new powder coater a couple days ago. Can't wait to try it out, I am sure everything in my shop will be coated by next week :):)

Powder coating has made some giant steps recently in regards to colors and textures. Multi colors on a given piece are possible, just takes a bit of time. There are real good stainless/chrome finishes out now and even candy colors that turn out great.

True camoflage may prove to be too difficult but there are powders that give you a variety of patterns from the cracked oldtime look to marble, rough textures of any sort and any color.

Neat stuff I think.

In the Photo Gallery forum, Murdoc posted this picture of a 1911 his company did up. I'm not sure what technique was used however. If it's a durable finish, it's one hell of a way to dress up an inexpensive Norinco!

True camoflage is easier than you think. The purpose of camoflage is to change the visual shape of whatever. Any disruptive pattern in the right colours will do. Getting a specific pattern is another story. You could use the cammo tape sold for bows.
Thanks guntech. I thought it was just me. snicker.

Yes a good camo is easy to do with our product that norinco 1911 was done with masking tape. A cheap way to make a stencil, and having a super strong finish. And you can do all this at the comfort of your own home.
