I was just wondering since I am in a mood of getting another shotgun, I have heard stories about camouflage shotguns that the camouflage aperently at places where metal is or the barrel slowly peals off, or bubbles, has anyone had any of these experiences?

If a gun is panted improperly (grease or contaminents left on gun, not cured for long enough etc...) the paint will wear off pretty quick.

Most factory painted guns will last for longer, but as all "paint" finishes, it will wear off over time.

If its plastic (like a Benelli Nova's reciever & stock) then if cured properly the paint will bond to the plastic and you'll need to scratch it for it to come off.

As long as you make sure the gun is completely free of contaminents (thoroughly degreased and cleaned) then the pain will stick to metal (especially parkerizing) quite well.

I have painted an HK "jet funnel" (flared mag well for USP's) with black paint over the parkerizing, and it holds up VERY well. Its got quite a bit of scratch resistance, and doesn't come off.

I wouldn't worry too much about the paint coming off though, even if it does, it wouldn't be that hard to have it re-painted and looking 100% again :)
