Some plastic is food grade/heatable and some are not. Ziplocs are not.

The issue is that chemicals could each into the food.

I wouldn't worry about it, unless you were eating out of a ziploc daily.:)

(The same is true for Vac-pac bags, BTW. I would bet almost zero of the vac pack bags sod for home use are food grade/heatable. Again, it's not a big deal uness you are eating from the bags a the time)

I believe that 100 degree will soft the bag but wouldn't change the chemical structure.

The temp is much higher when the manufacturor blows the plastic film out of machine.

Not to rain on anyones parade here, but from the Ziploc website:

I don't know if this is a chemical issue or that the bag may, simply, come apart. You decide.

Thanks Simple Simon.Great idea. and the prices aren't bad. I like the fact that you can use them with a vac sealer.

Have you ordered from these guys before?

I guess the bags would work well for pies?!?!?!?LOL
