This was my 6th year attending "The National Rifle & Pistol Matches" at Camp Perry in Port Clinton Ohio. My first year I competed in just one match with and M1 Garand. This year I was on line for five events. I've earned a few medals in the past but none this year. My personal high water mark for my shooting was firing a 93-4X out of a possable 100 at 600 yards with an SA M1 originally built in 1954.

This was also my third year as part of "The M1's for Vets Project". Since 2006 we've taken 64 veterans who have served in Iraq and Afganistan, most were wounded with some severe, to Camp Perry and the Nationals at no charge. Transport, lodging, meals, match fee's and ammo were all included. This years team, 22, was made up of troops from the Marine's, Army and Navy. Plans for the 2010 trip have already started to form.

Wasn't sure where to post this but since most of the rifles used were M1 Carbines, Springfields 03 & 03A3's, M1 Garands and assorted Vintage bolt actions this seemed like the proper forum.

Here's a link to my photo page from this year, hope you enjoy the pics!

I would really like to attend that event.Do you see many Canadians? How hard is it to find lodging? I know it can get pretty hot for us cowboys from frozen Alberta.

Hot Damm!!!
I get so excited everytime they show this on Shooting USA. All those Grand's, M14's & AR's drive me bonker's. Oh ya who can froget the hardest event of all...
