i am taking the family to Cedar Point for vacation. I was thinking about stopping off at Camp Perry on the way home.Anyone been there before? Any advice?
Camp Perry is a U.S. military training station. The CMP has their 'North Store' there. You can't buy anything, but looking doesn't cost anything. No drooling on the M1 Rifles and Carbines. No pets allowed either. Don't think there are any rules about foreigners.
Hours are here. Essentially Wednesday to Saturday, 8:30 to 4. http://www.thecmp.org/northstore.htm
Vendors row at Camp Perry during their National Match is way more fun than Cedar Point. I would suggest dropping the family off at Cedar Point and spending the better part of your day there. Lots of things you can legally buy but also lots I wouldn't attempt the purchase and bring home. Sinclairs has a shop there with just about everything there that is in their catalogue. Champoins Choice and Champoins Shooter Supply plus many more depending on what week you go.
LOL I thought about dropping off my family and staying at CP. I know you can't purchase many things there but hopefully I can buy a stock for my M1. Or else I might just buy a T-shirt.
"...a stock for my M1..." The CMP won't sell you any parts. Even though M1 Rifle parts are not on the restricted for export list. Carbine parts are. Americans must be members of affiliated clubs, among other eligibilty requirements to buy too.
CMP is not the only vendor at Camp Perry during the National Matches. In fact I have been a regular attendee of vendor's row for the past 15 years and helped put many of the vendors children through university.
