Consider this to be the moment when the world changed. 9.3x62 is a time-honored designation but it could use some freshening up. We all know that our American cousins have a hard time with metric cartridge designations. I believe that, in the spirit of accommodation, we should update the designation of our beloved 9.3x62 to something more reflective of motivation that most of us have for discovering the grand old cartridge.

Up for the vote are:

1) .360 Ted

2) .366 Wagner

Hilarious.
I'll vote .366 Wagner...I think .366 was Honus Wagners MLB batting average...or was it Ty Cobbs??

-for what its worth I call my fugly 9.3x62 Sako BlackBear "Otto" (after the cartridge maker Otto Bock)...seems to fit.

Sure, lets change a designation 108 years old to accomodate american ignorance and stupidity. Great idea! Maybe then they'll start chambering Ruger Americans, an TC Venture's in this "new" cartridge. Happy days!

Americans aren't the only ones that have a problem with the metric system. Old British catalogues often refer to the 9.3x62 as the .366 Mauser, the 6.5x53R and 6.5x54 M.S. were .256's, and the great 7x57 was relabelled the .275 Rigby.

Take a deep breath and step away from the keyboard. Spring bear season is upon us - you should go shoot one and then come back to this thread with a happier spirit! ;)
