I have been reading other threads on Campro projectiles and I figured I would start one specifically on 147gr 9mm reloads.

Using my IGB 40-9 Glock conversion barrel, I estimate that the bullet engages the rifling at 1.15" OAL. The cartridge was a little sticky at that length (0.376 taper crimp).

I backed it off to 1.13" so it would be 0.020 off the lands. This length also dropped freely in and out of my FNS9 barrel. I did find it interesting that the IGB chamber was a fair bit tighter than the FNS9 barrel.

Campro recommends 1.06".

Here are my questions: assuming proper taper crimp @ 0.376, would it make sense to just go with 1.06" (0.09" off the lands) or should I start with 1.13" and work back from there? Does this even matter for pistol loads and would longer OAL be safer just in case there is some bullet setback?

I will be using Titegroup for now - probably 3.4gr to start. I do have a chrony so I can check for velocity and SD.

Any insights would be appreciated.
