Good day all

Recently purchased a Marlin 1894 .44 Mag. Wanting to support Canadian industry, I have given thought to the Campro bullet line.

For clarity and keeping it all above board, I don't have any connection with Campro. Nor is this intended to be a review, criticism or otherwise about their product; merely information as to whether I should part with the coin or look elsewhere for a different bullet. I digress.

In my research I have read that truncated cone - TC - and semi wad-cutter - SWC nose design occasionally have issues feeding into rifles; round nose FP being relatively trouble/feed free.

Any input, suggestions, ideas appreciated. More inclined to give credence to first hand experience vs. I heard, I read, I saw, I know a guy.....You get the idea, yeah? Pics more than welcome.

Thanks everyone.

Don’t know much about the 1894’s, but 1873 levers do not like semi wad cutters. Most of the cowboy crowd use the round nose flat point. My 45lc runs like a top with them. Any bullet that has an edge or a lip on it like a semi wadcutter can hang up. Most of us use drg lead Bullets

I use both Campro 240gn plated bullets and DRG 240gn lead swc in both my Henry Big Boy Steel and Marlin 1894. 10 lead rounds as fast as I can work the lever for Wild Bunch shooting. For general plinking I use the Campro bullets.

No problems with the 240gn Campro in my Marlin 1894 44Mag/44Spl or the smaller 158gn in my 1894 357Mag/38spl. Using Campro's Data for H110 powder, I've worked up a fun 'point & shoot 0 to 100' gong loads for both rifles. Both rifles are pushing their respective bullets out around 1700fps.
If your looking for only a few to check out, Henry @ Budget has them in bags of 100.
SWC's don't feed reliably in my 44Mag or 357Mag 1894's, the SWC's lip sometimes get hung up on the entering chamber, I used them up in my revolvers and went to round nose flat point DRG lead bullets, they cycle much better than the SWC in my 1894's. But I keep reading some rifles do like the SWC's.

Side note, I've just started using the 240gn Campro bullets for plinking rounds in my Marlin 1895 444 Marlin. Using Hodgdon Data, I selected a powder where the Max. 444 Marlin load does not exceed 44Mag Sammi pressures. I chronoed 6 of the first doz. 'reduced starting loads' at an avg. velocity of 1849fps. No evidence of 'shotgunning' or anything else weird. Now to work up.

Until this post I haven't heard of DRG bullets.
Could someone fill me in, please and thanks, as my on-line search has been rewarded with retailers; none of which post any details of them IE diameter, Brinell hardness, nose profile, GC, BB, FB etc.
FYI. An email was sent to Lawrys several days ago. It was forwarded several times with my request. To date no reply.

Small operation, no website, father and son operation I believe. I generally pick my bullets up from the dads garage. Don’t know the specs but they’re good bullets. Under normal circumstances I would go through about 8k 225gr. 45 bullets, but that won’t happen this year.
