I have been loading a lot of the 450 and 350 campro bullets for my .458 WM and Iam impressed by how they shoot. I figure a reduced load launching either at about 1700 would be a nice load for deer. question is would these plated bullets be considered full metal jacket and not legal for hunting? Expansion isn’t a concern with .458 diameter And Iam sure they would hold together fine but I wonder what a C.O. Would say?

Handloading 458 405gr Campro bullets with good results. 458 400gr Barnes Busters have a small hole drilled at nose center to make it into an expanding punch bullet.

Would the Campro bullet qualify as FMJ? I think you could argue that a plated bullet is not a FMJ any more than a powder coated lead bullet is a FMJ.
However they look identical and I think that you might end up having to explain the difference at least to the CO and possibly in court if you get ticketed and dispute it. That's worse case scenario. More likely is that you don't even encounter a CO, or if you do they never examine your ammunition.
