I have been reading a few things about the Cooey 84 12 gauge for my next little purchase. I have checked the posts and cant seem to find a direct answer.
Someone said they could shoot slugs with a full choke. Is this true?? Also said they can shoot 3 inch shells. Is this true?

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

If it is stamped to have a 3" chamber it can shoot 3" slugs. If not you are 2 3/4" all the time. And yes it will shoot slugs and Buckshot.

But don't be a thoughtless gun killer and put a stupid pistol grip on it.

No way I would put a pistol grip on one. I was looking at a friend of mines cooey 84 and it doesn't say anything about the size of shell. All it says is 12 gauge 30 inch FULL CHOKE. Is it just because it is older version. I think the serial number was like 31### or 30### seemed super low.

If a model 84 2 3/4" model 840 was 3" and so marked. No problem with rifled slugs, not sabot slugs designed for rifled barrels.

If it does not say 3 inch, it is only designed for 2 3/4. That gun was made in an era where most 12 gauge guns were only chambered for 2 3/4.

A Cooey (or other) 12g single shot with a the barrel cut down to 20" is a fairly common truck/bear gun in the foothills for fishers and hikers
