Can a Springfield M6 Scout .22lr/.410 be changed to .22Hornet/.410?

Like the title says?
Could you just ream the chamber, change the extractor and reposition the firing pin?

springfield to 22 Hornet

It was occasioally done in the old days. As I remember, the Springfield locks only on the bolt handle. Look up "Wotkyns-Morse" since I think he was the first to do so.

LOL, do you remember any more than that?
I have no idea what "the Springfield locks only on the bolt handle" means

The 22 LR bore diameter is tighter than a Hornet. The steel is usually a much different grade than used on a centre fire.

It sounds like something that maybe could be done - but should not.

The one I'd like to convert is a CZ stainless steel one. I'd have figured pretty good quality steel. May be I should start by slugging the bore? Would the twist rate be different?
I also have the same gun in .22 hornet made of regular steel. Exept for the obvious, I can't see any difference between the two, which is why I thought a conversion may be possible.

You have two M6s? Share man, share! Seems like a lot of trouble to go to just to get a factory configuration... offer a trade plus cash on your .22LR for a .22 hornet?
