The last 1911 offered through can ammo what did you guys do about the sights? What did you change them out to? Where did you order from? Was it hard to change out? I hate the sights that are on it. After some work on the insides and changing a few little bits I actually like the gun for the price point. I did a small search but never found a post specifically about this. Also are they considered a government or commander model? Or are they the same thing?

I bought several of the Can Am 1911s. Each got new sights. Either a big red post or a fibre optic front and a taller rear sight to match.

The front sight is mounted with a small tenon into a tiny slot cut into the receiver. You can buy a small tenon Colt front sight and it will fit just fine. Or you can buy a dovetail type sight and have your gunsmith cut a dovetail. Speak to him first and find out what size cutter he has. Novak is a common size sight and he probably has one. The slide is very hard steel. He will need a carbide cutter.

New sights make it a much better gun.
