I recently bought an older Smith & Wesson Model 41 (separate picture thread in this forum). Yesterday I took it completely apart for a thorough cleaning. That's when I noticed something unusual. The serial number is stamped on the frame above the trigger guard and it also stamped within the magazine well. The strange part of this is that the last two digits of the serial number are reversed in the magazine well as opposed to the external serial number. Has anyone ever seen this before????
