Hi everyone,
My friends grandfather passed recently and while dealing with some of his things he came across his fathers gun collection. I have given him most of the information on all the other guns he's looking for, but he has this .22 in the collection and I have never seen this style of action. The barrel has no discernible markings from what i can tell. My friend says he remembers his grandfather talking about this rifle and that it was one of the older ones in his collection. If any one knows make, model, year(ish), country of origin. That would be greatly appreciated!!

It looks to me like one of the old German made .22 rifles. I've seen them on the equipment exchange as well as in the rimfire posts. Those more knowledgeable will chime in shortly, I'm sure.

German Youth Rifle, .22 LR caliber, manufactured by Deutsche Werke, Werk Erfurt, Germany between 1919 and 1939. Single-shot, tip-up breech for loading and ejecting shell; with bolt pull for cocking and safety. Deutsche Werke logo - a stylized "D" being formed by what is referred to as a "dormant lion" with the tail forming the "belly" of the D - inside a circle on breech-block and left side of stock. The left barrel reads "CAL .22 LONG RIFLE". The right hing plate is stamped "D.R.P./Germany" for Deutsche Reichspatent (Patented in Germany). The breech block is stamped "Mod. / I under the logo mentioned above. These rifles bear a strong resemblance to other "survival" rifles used by various military forces.
Overall length is ~37"; barrel length is ~19"; good bore.
Deutsche Werke AG was originally a factory that made torpedoes and later submarines for the German Kriegsmarine; they also produced motorcycles and diesel engines. The former Royal Prussian rifle factory at Spandau was once a part of Deutsche Werke (German Works).

I have one of those. Yours is the only other one I have seen. I've had some decent offers for it, but I know that if I sell it I will never own another, and that makes me a little sad.

my ex gf's grandfather has one that lives in his pantry for taking care of rodents on the farm ive shot his and it is actually a very acurate rifle, i can see it being a good survival style rifle as there is really nothing to go wrong, a very simple reliable rifle
