Can anyone identify this bottom metal? (what brand) It came installed on a Rem700xcr I bought from an estate. A magnet will stick to it, appears to be high quality stainless steel

nickel is magnetic. high chrome content Stainless tend not to be

Negative-Your post/reply is Bass Backwards.

Go find a nickel....coin or any coin for that matter...and a magnet!!

300 series stainless(more nickel) is NON Magnetic & only work hardened capable.

400 series stainless(more chrome) is Magnetic & heat treatable.

I'm regretting mentioning anything about a magnet lol

thanks everyone for the replies. I'm guessing it's Sunnyhill, or Dakota Arms.

I have this rifle for sale, and wanted to add details about the bottom metal.

Thanks everyone.

Austenitic stainless is paramagnetic, weakly attracted to magnets. Ferritic and Martensitic stainless however are strongly attracted to magnets...
