Below are a couple pictures of an old rimfire rifle I just bought. It is a rimfire and shoots 22 CB caps with no problem. When I tried a 22 LR the cartridge fit the rifle fine but ruptured the case upon firing. I slugged the bore to .2165".

Any ideas as to what it is?

I have no clue, but it's a nice looking old rifle. My best guess would be British in origin - possibly some odd European rimfire caliber?

When I see a Martini action .22 I think BSA. That looks different from all the others I've seen though.

It is similar to a Martini Cadet action the way the bolt and extractor work but the contour of the top of the receiver is cut much lower than the Martini.

Martini-Zeller from Germany maybe??

If that rifle is as old as it looks and sounds like it could be chambered for .22 CB short.

What a neat find. :)

Not a Martini, It is some Euro copy of the Martini, some of them are much more ornate and done up as shuetzen rifles, like the Martini this looks like a good strong action.
