Just wondering if anyone could recommend a nice lightweight 10.5" 5.56 barrel. I am beginning the build on an AR for my wife, who is rather small so I would like to build this one for her stature. My 14.5 is just a bit big on her and I would like to keep the weight down for maneuverability. Thanks.

Colt Commando LW barrels are 11.5", but pretty much impossible to find in Canada. Why would you want a 10.5" barrel. It's going to be so loud.

Loud is not so much of an issue as we both weat muffs and plugs to shoot. The reason is because she is very small. My AR is over half of her height so I am making a gun that will be more proportionate to her and therefore easier to maneuver and play with.

Definitely buy a linear compensator for her, the concussion from a short barrel is strong and gets to be painful after a couple hours of shooting. I had a brake on my 12.5 inch and it was so bad you felt it in your sinuses every shot.

Pretty sure NEA and S&J both have nice 10 inch barrels for a reasonable price and are fairly easy to come across.
You can also get a 7.5 inch? :)

Good luck

I have an S&J 11.5". With my AR set up bare bones with a poly handguard, thing is so light I can shoot it like a pistol.

There are lots of barrel options. As far as weight goes, the trick is going to be to streamline it and avoid adding extra crap.
