I went to a gunshow today and picked up a couple of toys.
The first is a 22 lever action single shot that says J.G.A. ZELLA MEHLIS GERMANY on the barrel.
It has a flip down front sight. The rifling and bore are excellent.
The recoil pad says "STEVENS FAVORITE"
Can anyone tell me a little history about it and maybe approximate value?

The second one is a single shot 20 gauge made by Remington.
It says Remington Arms Co. Ilion. N.Y. USA. Pat oct 80 1894.
The reason I am asking about the shotgun is that it has a external hammer on the side but an internal firing pin.

Now I'm gonna go and try them out :)

Looks like a Stevens Favorite. It could be made in Germany under license to Stevens or it could have been imported by them and they put their name on it.

I got a little curious about the Remington semi-hammerless, as I had seen the type before.
Here is a brief bit of info I copied from another site.

Remington Rider No.9 Model 1902. Single barrel shotgun. Improved version of No. 3 single gun. Semi-hammerles. Automatic ejector. Barrel rolled steel, 30-32 and 34 inch lengths, Walnut stock. Gauges 10, 12, 16, 20, 24,and 28....
Fay patents, Weights 5 3/4 lbs- 6 1'2 lbs. Serial numbers on the Tang of guard bow. Barrels marked Remington Arms Co. Illion N.Y. U.S.A. Recievers marked: Patented Oct.30,1894, June 16.1902, June 28, 1904...
(1902-1910)

I would guess that the Favorite has been re-barreled at some time in the past, with the German barrel.

I thought that might be it. I was under the impression that the Stevens brand had always been an North American brand.
I picked them both up for curiosity pieces and I'm excited to find out that the shotgun could be 110 years old.
