Can break overcompensate on CZ858-2?

Hey guys,

I want to get a CZ858-2 (the non-restricted) and a NEA break for it (probably the crusader). Because the barrel is longer, doesn't this screw up the break function that (I'm guessing) was originally designed for the shorter barrel length? Will the recoil feel odd with the break on a longer barrel? Maybe even over compensating and creating a dip instead of a rise (if that's even possible)?
Or is this :bsFlag: I would hate to spend $ and find out the latter. Any pros that could answer this question, or even anyone that has any experience with this woud be great.

On a side note how easy is it to get a chrome-lined or stainless barrel for this model and where could I get one. Not too thrilled about the non chrome-lined bore that comes with it. Maybe there is a version of it in the non-restricted longer barrel length that comes chrome-lined? Anyone know?

!!!!Thanks guys!!!!

I'm not a pro, but you are very smart to realize that the difference in barrel length will affect the function of a muzzle device.

In most cases, the only thing people notice is the difference in blast and perceived loudness.

In this case the differences will be negligible. I've never tried the NEA brake, but in your application you shouldn't get any overcompensation issues.

Regarding your barrel, there are companies that can re-barrel it but really it's not necessary. Use a good lube/cleaner/protectant like G96 and you will not have problems. I used to do all the BS cleaning that everyone recommends, hot water and windex and all that junk, but with G96 I've never had any corrosion issues.

AFAIK only the slant design compensator overcompensates on the long 858 barrel.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here's a video, so at least 24,000 words a second, starring a CGNer:

Oh, so the slant brake is known to cause recoil issues? I thought it was just the folding stock that was making my face hurt lol.

Actually according to Dlask that brake is not on the rifle properly.
Now as for the orignal poster's 2 part question.
Please read here about the brakes;

Also I have 2 muzzle device's left on the EE right now from this testing.

Oh. I guess it should be tilted clockwise a bit for a right handed shooter, but doesn't it have a slot for the indexing pin? Do you have a link to Dlask's explanation of the matter?

the slant brake on my 7.5" CSA had the shots going like 2 feet over the target. Now I havent tried it on my 12'', 15.5'' or 18.5" versions to see how it is on them.

There are 3 detent notches on this deviece and according to Dlask & it is to compensate for right or left hand twist barrels. I don't know what the middle 1 is for? Not saying it's great for felt recoil or muzzle rise but properly instal makes it not that bad. From my understanding it's more for full auto fire.

Now as I have stated before the Dlask and NEA 3 port muzzle brake causes me to have enlarged groups due to my flinching when I pull the trigger. They are loud. So for my rig I choose the XB3 model and the orignal 4 prong model that they no longer produce. As we are not aloud full auto in Canada and also no flame means I can keep my eye's on the target plus no loud boom, means no flinching while on target. Just my personal point of view though.

The crusader doesnt overcompensate with the factory folder, I still get some flip. Just waiting on stormwerkz adaptor and folding mech then I can comment on performance with a straight stock. The stainless mtl is great too, no need to clean if you dont want to which is nice when youve got more than a couple rifles to clean at midnight :)

i bought the cz factory brake for my 858 and it works great. Seems to have reduced muzzle rise alot and the gun shots just as accurate. Its cheap, looks great and works great
