Can gas port location effect accuracy

Hey guys just one of the things I was pondering last night. Can the location of the gas port effect accuracy? Not length(carbine, mid, rifle) Like if it was drilled and intersects the lands would that do anything to accuracy on gas guns?

I have always wondered this as well. Part of me wants to believe they plan it out, however I don't think it is feasible for mass production
