Can Hornady lock-and-load bushings be used with the basic Lee Reloader?

I was looking for a nice simple press to use for bullet seating at the range. The little Lee looks like it would work just fine, and I've already got a nice assortment of Lee shellholders.

Was wondering if the Hornady busing conversion kit would work with the Lee press.

Is the bushing on the Lee removable to allow the Hornady one to be installed? If not...can anyone suggest a similar single stage press that might fit the bill?
 
The Lee presses have the threads machined into the press itself, not into a bushing that threads into the press.

The Hornady kit, therefore, will NOT work.

However, just screwing your dies into the press WILL work. Why not just screw your dies into the press?

That's not universally correct. The Lee Classic Cast can take standard 7/8 - 14 dies or 1 1/4 - 12 dies - or a Hornady bushing.

Having said that, the OP could just save some money and screw the dies in... but snap-in-snap-out is great once you have it.

My bad - you're right, the classic cast can do that.

Also, Lee has its own turn-lock bushings as well; I have them on my single-stage and they're alright I suppose. Unless the Hornady product was vastly superior (and I'm sure it is), I wouldn't really want to mess around with it.

Especially if I were just seating @ the range - that involves one die, set once, used for an entire session. Hell, I use a Lee Hand Press! :)
