I'm not yet part of a gun range/shooting club, but will be soon. I have an RPAL. Can I buy a restricted rifle/handgun from the EE, and have it transfered to my house, keeping it there exclusively until I'm a range member? Or will they not give me an ATT to get it here unless I'm part of a range/club already?

Thanks!

before they transfer a restricted firearm to your name, they will indeed need to know what range you are part of. Probably even ask you for a photocopy of your membership card or some sort of proof.

People with memberships already have headaches trying to buy restricted rifles, sometimes waiting for months to get a transfer approved. So just imagine what your lukc would be without a club membership.

You are not required to be part or a Gun club to obtain an ATT according to the LAW. It's usually the office policy to request this, but they can't deny you an ATT because of this, and if they refuse it, they must provide it in writing, they cannot refuse ATT over the phone. There's a great thread about this.... hopefully someone can link it.

You DO NOT need to be a member of a range in order to buy a restricted....at least not in Ontario.

For the transfer, simply inform the CFO which range you INTEND to become a member of, and request a ST ATT to bring the firearm home.

Thanks gents.

Law or not, it seems like the best thing to do is just wait until I'm a member. Patience, not my strong suit, but I've heard of it...

I'll be in Vegas in a couple weeks and will get my AR and handgun fix for a while longer, that'll help.

:)
