I'm in Ontario and just got my RPAL. As some ppl on CGN recommended, I'd like to buy a Norinco M-93 woodsman from Marstar as my first handgun. But the probelm is that Marstar's online order form requires a club name and a club membership number for purchasing restricted. I'm wondering if I have to join a club and get some membership number to fill in the form for my purchase, or can I just leave them blank on the order form?

I searched the forum for this kind of question but none seems to be asked before.

Yout CFO will not allow a transfer unless you belong to a gun club unless you have collector status. So unless your a collector you need to belong to a club.

legally yes you can.

The CFO is trying to enforce "policy" about having a membership first.. However that is NOT law and must be fought by ALL of us.

instead of naming the club and claiming to be a member (if you are not), you say that you "intend" to join "club name here" soon.

...but you had better join it soon, as you will not get an att. and won't be able to move the guns once you get them.

If you dont have a club membership where would you intend on shooting it?
you cant hunt with it and you cant take it any where legally with out a ATT.

cheers

There are plenty of clubs that allow dropins w/o membership... (Silverdale for example) or being a guest at your friends clubs..

I know a ton of ppl whom have all invited me to join them at their club.. and I don't need to be a member to do that.

ATT is another thing where membership is NOT part of the LAW

Also you cannot hunt with any restricted class.. That has been illegal for many years now.

CFO "policy" is not LAW and we cannot sit back and let them act like it is.

Posts like yours which are not informed do not help us at all either. All that does is help spread the mis-information and helps the anti's side.

I bought my first restricted from a dealer and I did not belong to a club. When I was asked about my club membership I told them that I was not sure which club I wanted to join and wanted to try a few out. I am in Ontario as well. I do now belong to a club.

Dont bite my head off i am quite aware of the laws and regulations so dont talk to me like i have know clue what i am talking about.

I know you cant hunt with any restricted firearm thats common sense.

I know CFO policy...so why the double standard howcome when I was buying my restricted they (the CFO) would not transfer it or allow the seller to send it to me. with out a membership.

It depends on how you come across......if you seem a reliable honest to God kind of person and they like you , they might waive the "requirement" for the transfer, you would still need to get a membership for an LTATT though.

LTATT does not need a membership either... there is no LAW requiring such and that again needs to be fought. The CFOs keep trying to act as if 'policy' is law when it is not.

I was honest with them I was very friendly but they still told me I needed it.
and after I got it they were friendly as pie with me :)
but again i guess it all depends on the CFO officer

anyways cheers to all and have a good night :)

Sorry.. not trying to bite your head off.. but the fact is you do not need to have a membership by any LAW.. and that is what matters. That is what sis actually in reference to the OP whereas your post could easily be read in multiple ways none of which would answer the question asked nor help anyone learn what is and is not allowed.

As for the double standard.. again.. FIGHT it.. they cannot deny a transfer for nor having a membership since there is no LAW allowing them to do such.

Just because they tell you it is needed does not make it reality.

They were all friendly afterwords because they got their way... and you obeyed their policy.. How about next time they have a policy that says you cannot have it unless you donate to the RCMP?? Or any other insane BS requirement they try to enforce? Same difference... there is no LAW requiring it.. therefore it is not required.

ok cool:cheers: i guess it is hard to tell how people sound when they write

I do get your point but the problem is cant the CFO change there policy at any time? who is to say that if we fight it they change the policy and make it even harder for us to purchase restricted firearms?

it is almost a no win situation

They can try to change their policy all they want.. but the reality is the LAW is what matters and ultimately they have to follow that regardless.

Bowing down to their BS hurts us all in the end.... and that simply cannot be tolerated.

It's simple... policy is not LAW.. and they need to have that forced right back at them every single time they try to pull this BS.

If we do not fight back we loose..

it is interpretation but in Ontario there are very few places you can shoot restricteds legally without being a member... So if your intended purpose is target shooting you "most likely" will need to belong to a club..
