Can I get some help with 870 setup weights?

Not very scientific ... (no scale)

I have a first gen. 12.5 Grizzly with Wilson sights on it. Pulled the barrel and even with the few extra ounces from the sight ... compared to a 14" Remington with bead sight the Grizzly certainly feels a bit lighter. And there's no doubt at the muzzle the Grizzly is thinner than the Remington which will account for some weight savings.

Also, with the happy cap you should be able to get 5 rounds into your 12.5" setup vs the usual 4.

This set up without the shells has me at 6lb on a scale for people. Magpul forend with the hogue 12" lop. Honestly the balance isn't that great with the magpul forend and the hogue stock. its really end heavy

Without the sling gear it's just barely under 6 pound. Overall length is 30.5", balance feels great too.

Need to add the XS Big Dot front sight and small piece of rail for mounting a light. So it'll be just over 6 pounds with that stuff and maybe 6.5 pounds with the sling, light, etc.

Very happy with this setup.

The Grizzly barrel looks great too, much nicer than I was expecting.

The primary hiking gun for the wife is :
870 Wingmaster
12.5" DA barrel
Raised front sight
Rear scatter gun ghost ring
Hogue short stock and forend
SJ detachable side saddle
Sling.
Left side off set front sling mount

Not sure of the weight, but the wife lumps that bad boy for 5-8km mountain hikes and tells be it's not heavy to carry. Like what has been mentioned before it's the LOP which makes it comfortable to shoot. With the hogue stock I find it super compact but just a little too short for my liking, but she loves it.

On a side note, front end cap sling mount can be a problem with a 12.5" barrel as I've had the sling swivel get stuck in the up position which was blown to sh!t causing the sling and half the swivel to swing down and around hitting me in the back leaving a nice mark. Easy fix with side mounting sling attachment.

Thanks for sharing. That's nearly identical to this build.

Good to hear that it's a "wife approved" setup.

I'm using a sling plate that can't rotate to avoid sling twisting.

I agree that the Hogue is too short for me but for my wife I think it's perfect.

Nice catch, that's the WMLx for my Magpul 14" but I will be mounting a WML to my wife's as well.

I'm going to install a 5 slot rail on the side of the Hogue forend. I'll take some photos once I get the parts I need.

It'll be interesting to see how you do it. the only reason I have my magpul forend is for the rail and so I don't shoot my hand off.
