Can I loan a gun to a friend with a PAL?

Ten years ago (when this thread was started, wink wink) there were registration certificates for all non restricted firearms. In 2012 the requirement to register non restricted ended.

He asked about non restricted. Y'all went off about restricted.

Yes, you can and you don't need to give him any papers for a non restricted

Non restricted firearms do not have registrations certificates, so I am unsure what your talking about. The registry went away almost 7 years ago.

Can I loan a non-restricted shotgun to a friend to take hunting (he has his PAL) for an extended period, if I send the registration cert. with him?

Since when does a non restricted firearm have a registration ? only handguns and other restricted firearms have registrations I don't even understand that part of your question ? And yes being in possession of a non restricted firearm requires a PAL so as long as the person with the shotgun has a PAL there is no problem

WOW seen somebody bumped a necro thread from 11 years ago HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA derp

Since a restricted gun and an ATT are both registered in your name, i don't think anyone but the gun's owner is allowed to transport it, so if you want to loan a restricted to a friend with a RPAL, you probably will have to transfer the gun to his name.

And all false

Its not my job wink

Buy here how this goes:

There is a form to fill, has all the info on it (yours and the borrower). Kinda looks like filling up an ATT/change of residence. Once approved, and depending on what you ask, you receive confirmation (it’s your form signed) and the borrower gets the same and an ATT.

I used to do it a lot (lending&borrowing) and we requested to keep the firearms sometimes for months at the time. All legal to lend restricted firearms, just need to do the paperwork and it’s a 24h turn over in the least gun friendly province. It’s not widely known because of how widely it is believed that we are not allowed to do it.

Contact the CFO and they should be able to help. Again, Quebec, no issues with the staff there and they are usually quick to provide the forms.
