Can I substitute CCI 550 Magnum primers instead of CCI 500's for 9mm?

Other than being "20% hotter" ... is there any substantial difference, or danger, in using the magnum primer instead of the normal CCI 500 small pistol primers in 9mm/40 and 45?

Good to go just reduce powder charge a few tenths and work up.

550 is same as 400. I have used a few thousand 400 to load 9mm. Worked fine across a dozen different guns.

No problem with them. They might not go bang if the striker/hammer has a light spring.
