Thanks, I will buy a proper one.Doubtful, 1 gram is about 15.5 grains.
You want accuracy to at least 1 grain minimum.
1/10 grain is preferred.
Don't think you will get that out of the triple beam.
I/10 gram is about its limit.
That works out to 1.5 grains at best.
Would be pretty slow as well.
Might work OK for big capacity cases where 1 grain out of 90 or so will not make much difference, but not much good for smaller or pistol cases.
Little digital scales are pretty cheap on the Amazonian princess but can get you way closer to your charge weight and faster than a beam scale.
A consistent and accurate powder charge is the primary factor in creating consistent velocity.
I didn't realize how much the air currents around my bench were effecting the scale until I made my last purchase. I find myself holding my breath now to ensure higher accuracy. But we all start somewhere and nobody should spend crazy money until they decide if there really into it. A beam scale can work, but won't drive like a sports car. It's more like a model T. And you can get cheap nock off little digital scales for super cheap that will out perform a beam scale by a long shot for 40 bucks delivered to your door or mailbox. Your beam scales won't get to the same level and are subject to human perception and the same environmental conditions and cost more to purchase typically. Purchasing a beam scale for more money than a product that will be more accurate for less money just doesn't make sense IMO. I'm Okay if I'm wrong but my experience with RCBS beam scale followed by a RCBS digital scale that I used for years to make very good and far more consistent rounds than the beam ever did and soo much faster just made it more pleasurable to work with. CheersWell thats the problem with cheap digital scales isn't it? They tend to wander, so consistent isn't really something you get. When I tested the cheap RCBS digital scale that came with my Partner Press Kit, it was off by 0.4gr after 20 loads.
If you're going to go cheap, go with a beam scale. Used RCBS scales are usually around $60 last time I was looking. Much more trustworthy than a digital of the same price.
