Ok so I've tried to find a list of approved guns for IDPA as I want to start competing there as well as IPSC. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find one anywhere on the internet or the very limited forums dedicated to IDPA.

Basically, I would like to start shooting with my Sig Pro 2022 with the night trijicon sights but I am not 100% sure if it qualifies. I don’t see why it wouldn’t but I guess you never know.

Yea, I think SSP is the div for me. Now I just meed to look at my Kydex holster to see if it will work for IDPA or if I need to get a new one :(

What holster do yo have? As long as you can't see daylight between the belt and the holster when you are standing erect you should be good to go. Just check out the pictures in the rule book under holsters. Pretty straight forward.

I think it is the Unkle Mikes Kydex. I am not sure if you can see daylight or not I'll need to look when I get home from work tomorrow morning. If it does show daylight, can you recommed a Kydex holster?? Also, with reference to my belt, I have the one with the velcro inner that goes through the loops and the outer that goes over top. Do you think this will this be ok as well???

Ok, if there isn't a list where does it say that the shadow is not allowed?

Or point me in the right direction. Keep hearing it but nobody seems to be able to back it up.

Not quite sure what you mean by the "shadow" but if you are talking about the daylight that can be seen in the holster it is in the IDPA rule book complete with pictures.

He means the CZ SP-01 Shadow pistol. I'm sure Bob will chime in, but IIRC is the full length steel dust cover and/or the weight that causes problems with the Shadow.

Ditch Doc - The rule was better defined in the rule book change in 2005. If you can see daylight between your belt and the holster you have two choices. You can take a hair dryer and heat the holster and squash the belt loop portion of the holster, effectively flatening them to make it legal or you can buy a new holster. Many of us here at the club use the Blade Tec holster. There line of products can be ordered from their website. The Shooting Edge in Calgary carries them as well.

Comp Tec holsters are also popular and work well.

"Gun belts may be no wider than 1 3/4" or thicker than 5/16" and must pass through the pant loops." from page 36 of the rule book.

diggler - CZ SP-01 Shadow

In order for a handgun with a full length dustcover to be used in IDPA it must meet the requirements for SSP Division. The weight limit for SSP is 39 oz. with an empty mag inserted. The Shadow with a 10 round mag weighs 41.1 oz. (I just bought one).

There is an Inclusive list of permitted modifications listed on page 19 of the rule book and a Non-inclusive list of modifcations not allowed for this division on page 20 of the rule book. You can attempt to reduce the weight of the gun and if you can get it to 39 oz the gun is legal for SSP and if so can also be shot in ESP BUT it must first qualify for SSP Division and at present the weight of the gun is the limiting factor.

Contact me by PM if you have anymore questions.
