Against the rules I was taught, I know, but....

I have some Winchester LR .22 ,36 Grain, 1280 FPS, Hollow Point Copper Plated.

They do not eject from my Walther P22, they work fine from the FIE single action revolver except the cartridge expands and I can't get the empties out. I actually have to pry them out.

They do work find in my single action long rifle, ejection is no problem.

My question is - I have an interchangeable magnum cylinder for the FIE revolver, can I use this ammo with that cylinder?

Please don't burn my ears off with howling denials, a nice calm "no" with an explanation would be appreciated. Or if it is "yes" (I hope) an explanation as to why it is possible would also be appreciated.

I wouldnt but thats just me.
Every 22 likes its own ammo. Sometimes you get lucky and get a few that like the same ammo.
If your having issues, why not try a bunch of ammo and see what your guns like. See if any have no issues.
Id try M22, AE, goldenduds and 555.
Yes I know CCI works in almost anything however, when was the last time you saw CCI in Walmart or CT?

It sounds to me like the chambers in your revolver need to be polished. Fired cases should come out fairly easily. As for using .22LR in a .22 Magnum cylinder, you run the risk of a ruptured case and possible debris coming back at you. You won't damage the cylinder since .22LR is less powerful than ,22 Mag, but you might damage the gun if during a case rupture, pieces get jammed in the action.

Thanks for your quick answers!

Yes, little_airwolf, lots of people have mentioned that certain guns like certain ammo. Trouble is getting the ammo in the first place.
I have fired Remington, American Eagle, CCI, Federal and they all work just fine in both guns. But I purchased the Winchester ammo, even knowing that there might be issues - because it was all I could get. I didn't realize it would be quite such a frustrating problem. The last ammo I got was a block of American Eagle and the guy charged me double the going price. I've been phoning around for 2 weeks now - no ammo anywhere.

And mmatt, rupture and debris are damn fine reasons not to do it - thanks. Won't even think about it anymore.

I guess I will have to find a qualified gunsmith now to check out the cylinder. But it's strange none of the other ammo has ever stuck. I will post inquiries at the clubs.

If all the other ammo works fine in your guns then you don't have to take them or it to a gunsmith. It is the ammo.

It is what I was thinking Graydog. Spoke with another member this am and he agrees with you.

Looks like I now have enough ammo for my rifle for a very long time.

You cannot use .22LR in a .22 Magnum cylinder, period. Aside from the case length difference, the bullet and case diameters are not the same. They are NOT interchangeable.
If your FIE is not extracting properly, quit shooting it and get it to a smithy. Something is wrong with it. Assuming you have the LR cylinder in the revolver.
You need to try a box of as many brands of ammo as you can to find the ammo your Walther will both shoot well and cycle the action. All .22's are like that. Some moreso than others.

Thanks sunray and Jahred.F

Okay, Okay guys.... I will NOT use any ammo other than Magnum shells in a Magnum cylinder!

sunray, I think if you read some of the previous posts you will see that no other ammo that I've listed has ever given me this problem, so in this case I, and most others, believe it is the ammo - not the cylinder.

Jahred.F - no I have not been using shorts - it is a valid point. Although even not having used shorts I usually clean my guns after having gone to the range no matter how little I've shot.... my relaxing mode after a relaxing shoot. lol

Thanks to all. Glad to hear and appreciate everyone s opinion.
