I would like to get my hands on a semi that will work perfectly in semi auto mode but with ultra light loads, like the CB cap .

is there such a beast ?

and secondly, I heard the Marlins could be what I am looking for...

yes no ?
if yes, where's the best place to get one? ( or one shipped over here in Montreal ) I was not lucky when searching for a Canadian Marlin dealer around here....

thanks

Yes, and they are a "sorta well-kept" secret..;).. in that there's not a whole lot of Internet chatter on 'em....

The closest you'll get to "perfect function" with light .22-loads is in the Remington Speedmaster series of rifles (a personal fave!), but particularly the model 550 and 550-1.........

Alternatively, anything chambered for .22 short may be able to cycle CB loads - I've had people tell me of their pistols in .22 short cycling CB loads, but I've yet to see it myself, in person....

Happy hunting....:D

If you reduced the recoil spring enough you might get it to cycle but I prefer to just pull the bolt back and work it like a "straight pull" bolt action.

I use CB longs.

My Marlin model 60 and 795 didn't cycle CB caps at all.

I have a Norinco JW-20 (copy of Browning semiauto .22) and it "cycles" the action and ejects reliably when firing CB caps, but doesn't feed them. I assume they'd work fine with light loads if cartridges are the standard .22LR size.

I have an older Marlin mag-fed .22 that will not cycle any CCI CB cap. However, the odd remington CB will cycle, the Remingtons have a powder charge in them, the CCI is just primer (I think)

So far, I have personally not had much success with CB Longs in my first Remington 550-1 (going to try 'em in my second one), and next step is to try the Remington CeeBee in both, as well as CB Shorts in both....;)

Here's one more idea: CB's in the Remington Model 24 (the Browning copy of the) takedown 22 semiauto?.....:yingyang:

Update: Just did a quick test today :yingyang: !

Remington 552 Speedmaster: 5-round test, two Remington Cee Bee's cycled sequentially, but the next 2 rounds needed to be cycled manually, and the 5th likewise have to be ejected by manually working the action. :(

The CCI CB Long's failed to cycle the action at all. ;)

Remington 550-1 Speedmaster: 20 rounds of Remington Cee Bee's cycled in semi-automatic fire without a hitch! :dancingbanana:

CCI CB Longs failed to cycle the action at all....:p

Up Next: Time to try CCI CB Shorts in both the 552 and the 550-1.....
