Recently bought a Savage 24 in .22LR/20 ga.

Barrel indicates 3" 'magnum' capacity, but no reference to choke. I'll assume it's full choke - based on old catalogues that appears to be the default. The catalogues also reference ability to fire slugs...

Can I fire (if necessary, not regularly) a 20 ga. rifled slug out of this barrel?

Just thinking of keeping a few slugs on hand in case I need something bigger than the .22LR.

Thanks -
Gray.

Yes, if it a type of slug appropriate for use in a choked barrel. I've fired standard Foster type slugs out of mine. If the rifle barrel is sighted in, don't assume that the sights will have any relationship to point of impact.

Incidentally, don't shoot the shotgun barrel if you have a scope mounted on the little Tip Off grooves on the barrel.
