If you see that your license have been already issued and you know your license number, can you you buy a non-restricted or restricted firearm online? Any possible issues with transfer? Or receiving at a post office/mailbox?

No.You need your physical copy in hand first.

If you get pulled over between the post office and home, you'll be in possession of a firearm without a PAL. If you can't show the cop your card, then you are not authorized to possess firearms. Not a good idea.

I have no idea about the store-end of things. If you know the number already, I am not sure if they have any way of knowing if you have the card or not.

as someone who is waiting for their license, I can tell you that NO you cannot order online without having your PAL in hand. my parents were nice enough to give me money towards buying myself a Rifle for my birthday and during the checkout process they ask for your PAL number and expiry date (at least Cabela's does) and from there I'm assuming they check to make sure that's valid before processing your order. I had my friend order it for me and he's holding on to it until I have my PAL in hand and can have them legally myself.

When I got my PAL I called to see if they needed anything more in Miramachi and they said it was done and gave me the number AND expiration date so I could have ordered.
BUT like Suther said you then run the risk of your firearm arriving before your PAL

So just to summarize all answers and some personal experience, YES, you can buy a gun online with just your license #/expiry date before receiving it in the mail. It is legal. It also saves you some time if you are buying a restricted one. And NO you are not allowed to pick it up from the post office/shop before you have your license in hand.

You can buy (Purchase) anything you want, with or without a license, however, you can not be in possession of a firearm without a PAL.

Do not confuse regulatory law, the firearms act, with simple contractual law. If you want a product from a store, lets say its a firearm, all you legally have to do to get ownership of said product is pay the provider for it, it then, contractually becomes your property. However, in the case of a firearm, you need to deal with the regulatory law that regulates that property. Having said that, if there is a gun you want, go buy it, have the store hold it until your license shows up or have someone else with a license hold it for you.

No other property we own, at least that I can think of, are we required to deal this way with.

Even without a hard copy of the license it's legal.....honestly, anything else would be ridiculous....a lost wallet doesn't make you a criminal.

Having said that, not very smart

I bought several restricted firearms while my application was being processed.
I explained to the seller exactly what the situation was before the deal was made.
They agreed to wait(holding the firearms and my money) until I had my card in my hand :)

I see no problems with this , as all the risk was mine(In the event I never got my card lol)

This thread was about buying while license have been already approved, with available lic #/expiry, just not the card.

Already did as i mentioned in previous posts, CFO even approved the restricted transfer.

well then why ask here if the transfer is already approved?
to me this means you already purchased the gun and the CFO approved the seller's transfer of the firearm to your name.
???

I was asking before, called in and approved just yesterday, so i updated everyone today. BTW, card already arrived too so for me the whole thread is obsolete but i thought would be helpful for others.

I bought two restricteds before I received my license(they'll take your money,no problem.). Not online though. If you're confident you'll receive your PAL visit your LGS and see if they have what you're looking for.

Yep , I saw that.
I added my experience in dealing with it.
Without the card in your possession I do believe you are breaking the law possessing a firearm.
I still had my PAL card .
But paid for the restricted I desired to own (but had to wait to have in my possession)
