It is estimated to be between 3000 and 5000 animals. In areas with proper habitat the population is estimated to be between 3 and 5 animals per 100 square kilometers.

bumped into one out here will moose hunting once, luckily it was the back side of one running only 20 feet ahead of my dad and I!

Well as another posts points out there have been numerous cougar sightings and attacks in my area alone.

There have been sightings of one in the provincial park here, and about 4 dogs and one pig have been killed in various areas around Likely (far enough away from each other that it cant be the same cat).
