I have a 597 22wmr which shoots very nice. Went to shoot the other day, sighted it for an inch high at 50 yards, all fine. Moved to 75 yards, shot a bunch of rounds, they all landed about 2 inches low and 1 inch right, sighted it at 75 yards, moved up to 50 (expecting it to be super high given that I just raised it about 2 inches) dead on target??????????? So it is on at 50 and it is also on at 75?

What is up with this?

That shouldn't happen - I have no explanation.

The CCI web site says that with a 100 yard zero, the bullet will be 1" high at 75 and .9" high at 50 yards - 1/10 inch difference. With a 75 yard zero, it'll be even closer

Get a ballistics program on your computer ("Point Blank" is great and lets you compute drag coefficients and such as most 22 ammo doesnt come with these numbers). Plug in the sight/scope height, and the info for the ammo (found on the website for the ammo you are using; it won't be exact but it will give you an idea)

When you see the graph of how the bullet flies vs. where it is sighted at different distances, it all makes sense, but for example, if you sight for 50 yards, the bullet climbs to the level of the sight at 50 yards, climbs a bit high and then starts to fall through the line of sight around the 75 mark (this all is vvvverrry willy nilly depending on how high your sight is, how long your barrel is, what type of ammo etc etc and thus how high the bullet climbs before intersecting the line of sight in the first place.

Sorry I'm not on my own computer for the next month or I'd just email you Point Blank, but its easy enough to find.

I understand when a .22 is zeroed at 50yds it can also be on target at 75yds. What I don't understand is when your rifle was 1" high at 50yrds, you raised your sights and it then printed 1" lower - very strange indeed.

If your rifle is not shooting accurately and you used only one shot as a reference this could happen. Try shooting at least 5 shot groups to verify your zeroes.
