Hey guys, first of all, I speak french, so im gonna TRY to make myself understandable in english... excuse me in advance =) (Im from Quebec)

Here's my question: Last week I passed my restricted firearms exam. I know my results already and will have to make a request to get my permit, once I will have received my results in the mail.... Starting THEN, how much time it's gonna take for me to actually get my permit? I would find it very poor if I can't shoot this summer!

(Let's say we take for granted that im accepted)

P.S. Ive been browsing the forums for about 3 months and I REALLY like it here guys.... =) Ive been a gunnutz forever, but I realy decided to work on a budget for that this year....and I just can't wait to buy my first baby! =)
Also I design pistols in Rhino3D, so if you guys have MOD projects that you would like to see in 3d comp art before actually doing it, msg me, maybe we can work something out!

you know it strange but it does seem to vary quite a bit, some guys get theirs in unde 2 months, and other well over 3. not really sure what is going on over in Miramichi, but its all quite messed up....

btw, there is a french forum on the web too.. armeafeu.org/ but obviously there is way more traffic and members on here....

Salut

You can send you PAL form witout the restricted info-secure results. just don't check "proof attached" and write on a separeted paper you have not yet received the proof.
Once you get it, fax it at 1-800-411-0622

it should take 45-60 days to proceed, they have 10 days retard...
I sent mine on march 23th and it's not in their computer yet.

If you need info in french just pm :)

Hey thank you very much Icefire! That's about all the infos I need ! And you just confirmed me what I was thinking about... Sending request BEFORE receiving results by the mail... =)

I just hope It doesn't take the whole summer to arrive!

- Hey nice try Garrett... It's about it! You even use our slang hehe

Is there anyone in the Quebec-Montreal region near Trois-Rivieres?
I would like to know more about shooting ranges near me...

For a first buy I don't know yet since i've not hold a lot of babies yet...

I have great interests in SIG 226 or BERETTA 92/96.... I don't want to go for more than 1400-1500$

Im all open for advices!

you know I like Beretta 92/96 brigadier or Elite, SIG 226 and 228, many 1911, I like HK USP too.... I don't really like glocks...

I sent my upgrade in on that exact same date and it was listed on their website on March 27 as having undergone "initial processing" or some crap like that. I would phone em up first thing Tuesday morning if it is not listed on their website.
How did you send it to them?

If you can convince the CFO that you need your PAL for work they can speed up the process. Don't lie, but you did say you design pistols, maybe you need your pal to handle samples from time to time??

I know people who have been accepted at Brinks etc have been able to get their PALS in about 3 weeks.

regular mail

That is likely why.
From what I've read here there is a lot of apps that get "lost" via Canada's finest. I sent it via Canada post Express Envelope with request for a signature.
Not only can you track it, you can download the persons signature via the net.
I sure was glad I spent the $10.00 or so it cost for peace of mind that I now can wait 6 months.

- Icefire told me to FAX it... I think I'll try this way...

- Pistol design is just a hobby for me... 3d Art.

And you were talking about working for the BRINKS... I'm looking forward into that, but the only training I found on the net was like 3 months long... It's all about beeing a security agent. Is that the real thing? Anyone got advice about wich training to choose and where to get it? I was looking at those SigarmsAcademy training and other sites too... That's in the US. Can I still have these trainings? Right now I work in the telecom world, I climb on towers... I REALLY wanna switch to a job in the security or high security world... I don't mind spending $$$ on courses If i can find a job I like! =)

What I told you to fax is the letter you will receive as proof of your restricted course.
So you could send the whole application in the mail without that proof..

Course results by mail?

Up here, the student has his results in his hand when he leave the course. How do you guys do it in Quebec? are there other provinces that do this also?
