Can someone recommend a spotting scope?

Hey guys

The culture at my range isn't friendly to us "iron sites" kind of guys so I've decided to purchase myself a spotting scope but I'm not sure where to start.

I would like to be able to see 30 cal holes at 200m and I would be really happy to be able to see 45 cal holes at longer distances.

Bulk and weight isn't a concern, but cost is. I'm a cheap bastard and don't want to spend more than $250 if at all possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheap spotters are cheap for a reason...they suck. Save your money and buy good glass. Good glass costs good money.

You can try a Celestron Ultama 80 I see 223 at 200 fine

You can get a Bushnell in that price range as well, Ive seen them for $300.00

I tried some other cheaper (Unnamed) scopes and returned them upgraded to the Celestron it was around $269 I believe at the time probably a few bucks more now

I picked up a Bushnell XTL 20-60 for 175 like new here. It was much better then my light weight Celestron 30-90x65 that was soo light it shook in any bit of wind and needed you eye right against the eye piece and think I can see.

The redfield spotting scope is decent so I've been told. My friend bought one. I've yet to look through it.
