Can the Savage Arms mkII-F be drilled and tapped?

I want to get one cuz it's cheap but I know it's not tapped. Can it be done later at reasonable expense?

It comes already setup for a dovetail base.

Get a Marlin, it's drilled and tapped and comes with grooves as well. You have both options.

Damn, I didn't even think to look at Marlin's products (I have a lever action .30-30 and I love it). Yeah, I'll probably get a Marlin.

If you are looking at getting it drilled and tapped for scope bases, I'll assume you want a better scope mounting solution to get the best possible accuracy from the rifle. If that is the case perhaps you should look at the Mark II FV which is a heavy-barrelled rifle, blued with a laminate stock. It comes with weaver-type bases installed

It's only a matter of time before they give the boot to the irons, too.
