Can.Tire Digital calipers on sale $ 14.99

I just picked up a set and they don't even come close to my Fowler's I use for reloading. They'll be OK to get you started and accuracy seems fine. However, they aren't very smooth. When you're dealing with precision tools on the rest of your reloading bench, why skimp on low-end calipers? I'd be P.O.'d if I paid full pop for them but at $14.99 they'll do as a back-up or second set. That said, I'm 100% for supporting Canadian Tire - so I'll keep 'em and use 'em as necessary.

Another good buy

A few months ago I picked up a nice old Starret 436F in an antiques store in Bellingham, WA for $35.00:

I think these are nearly US $100 new.

does someone have the battery number handy for the crappy tire calipers?..i took my battery out and lost it between here and the dollar store:redface:

The LR44, AG13 and 357 to name a few are all equivalent and the Dollar Store in my area has it as the AG13 with LR44/357 in small characters listed at the bottom of the package. I got a package containing 5 batteries for $1.

Batteries are cheap enough from the dollar store but I still don't like that this caliper chews thru them so fast.

What I like about them is the instant switch from metric to Imperial. With parts from both systems in use this is really handy. Sometimes I measure something in Imperial and it just doesn't look right, switch to metric and voila, its right on a standard metric dimension.

There is no way I would have sprung a couple hundred dollars for a Mitutoyo equivalent so I'm glad to have them.
