Can we create a thread on normal wear and tear on the CZ 858 or VZ58 rifles?

My first CSA VZ58 was a lemon.

I now have my second one.

So far it came with an old and rusted firing pin which broke before firing round 1, I did get the new style firing pins and since then I have run 170 rounds with zero failures.

However I am not sure that I am getting good wear/seating of the bolt carrier group parts. Looks like the chrome is flaking and tearing off of the sharp corners of where the bolt assembly slides along the carrier.

I for one don't know a lot about how the parts of this rifle should wear and seat.

These rifles are getting more and more common here in Canada and I for one would appreciate a database that I could refer to so I can monitor the issues with my rifle if there are any.

Thoughts?

Would this be helpful for anyone else?

with my cz858 the only thing i had to get was a stryker because mine had begining to crack after 1500 round im probably now around 4k if not more and no prob

My vz bolt blew up after 150 rounds that's a little sad for a rifle retailing at 1149$ for a while. Oh well 5 year warranty, hope to shoot 200 rounds with my next one.

Mine has ran flawlessly, probably have feed it 2 dirty crates of surplus. Clean and inspect the firearm after every trip out, which usually consists of 200 rounds. I honestly looks to be holding up strong. There is metal to metal contact on the receiver and carrier, and has become slightly polished. be sides that there is a small dent where my striker hits the firing pin, maybe 1 mm deep. I suppose i could take it out of the safe and take some pictures:rolleyes:. if i have too.

Thanks all

Yeah there is a video of changing the firing pin out, it's a pain but can be done with a pick.

My replacement gun looks better and the wear marks aren't showing up yet.

Few small issues but Movie Armaments are stand up folks they're taking good care of me.

I put maybe 20rnds downrange with the first VZ58 I had but it ran flawlessly and I haven't heard of any issues from its current owner, I sold it to fund something else. I currently own a CZH 2003, received it with an overall unknown round count and it runs like a top as well. Bit of polishing from slide contact but thats it. I completely strip the bolt for cleaning, using the hot water method, including the firing pin, (which is a huge pain in the butt to remove). I reassemble after drying everything completely and the only oil the firing pin gets is just prior to reassembly and I pretty much wipe all of that away to and run it with the pin dry.

I had the gremlin on my NR cz858. Sent to bolt to get the tab welded on and it's been solid since then. Not one failure of any kind @2500 rounds. I dont see any real signs of wear and I'm happy as can be. Haven't shot it much lately as I bought an xcr but next time I go out I'll bring the cz for some good old fun!

Thanks for the continued feedback.

I am extremely pleased with this rifle platform. There are some bugs in the CSA guns for sure but I am slowly getting a rifle that is put together properly. At this point I have too many add ons to switch platforms. lol

Got out shooting today! That means its gun cleaning night!!!!! Also got some pictures of the wear and tear on my rifle.
It starts!!!!

where my carrier slides along the reciever

where the striker hits the firing pin

the part that seems to break on the vz's???

and back to normal

I don't have pics, but honestly all I can say is that what you call "wear and tear"... I call, a bit of paint wore off while the gun broke in.... and that is about it.

well the Original Poster wanted some examples of normal wear and tear, this is ~2 crates through the rifle. ill do an other set of pictures after it has 2 more through, or if anyone has a really large round count it would be neat to see!!!!!
