with the new handgun freeze are we still able to order parts for our handguns? i just ordered a holster from the states and they informed me that alot of their holsters had been sent back by customs. i risked it anyways and told them to still ship it and it made it across. im more so wondering for actual parts for my handgun? any info is appreciated!

Just to be clear: A holster is not a replecement part for a handgun but an accessory. That being said, I have read a few stories lately about gun related items being held at custom. I sure hope our canadian merchants will be able to keep on importing spare parts for handguns.

Customs Officers have access to check CFRO databases to see if a person has a firearms license. That being said even if the person does not have a firearms license they will not have it sent back to the shipper because a holster is not controlled or prohibited for import. It maybe a red flag if the importer also has a no firearms restriction because or previous criminal charges.

Random stuff gets sent back sometime bc they are clueless. My friend had a knife sent back they said was illegal. It wasn't as he bought it at the local Cabela's after.

I ordered a bunch of springs from Brownells CBSA held it for almost 3 months, a polite complaint to their website got it released and on its way.

Depends on the gun.
Competition guns have a higher chance to obtain parts.
Trigger kits/springs/hammers pins sights etc. also mags.
Holster rigs etc.
But that’s gonna be the smaller specialty/competition shops.
The big GunMart is not gonna have much in this regard.
There interested in the walk away sale. Return for another product|sale.
There not gonna have a 13lb 1911 spring. If they do 4 leaf clover for you.
So don’t break that 1956 Ex China cop gun.

There seem to be a lot of gun owners now with multiple guns they were going to flog for a profit.
They may now break them into parts and sell those.
I don't see a shortage of parts anytime soon.

Thats possible if the price is good. Someone that need $ and don’t care what there doing.
In the end ya can’t sell the part with the # on it…so technically you haven’t sold the gun .
Finding the correct replacement slide stop will be hard and at what price? $70 today~ 7 years from now?
Parts are still available along with upgraded parts, But mostly for popular models.
But for how long.
And then later Will the criminals start selling there parts?
And ya I’d likely drop $400 on a slide stop to keep my Colt rocking. What receipt ,,

I ordered my holster from werkz. I ended up receiving it but they told me that holsters have been sent back to them a lot lately because customs isnt letting them through.

lol i know a holster isnt a replacement part. I was wondering about replacement parts since i was informed that even holsters have been stopped at the border now. I ended up receiving mine thank god, but just wanted to know about replacement parts before i started ordering.

Ive heard of a bunch of problems with customs on Brownells orders specifically, long waits and even denied imports.

I have a bunch of hand gun and rifle parts on their way on a Dec import with one of the US/Canada importing compaines. I have more faith in using them without custom problems. I hope I get them because the main reason for my order was replacement recoil springs that I can't find in Canada, to keep my current favorite pistol running properly.
